Biographie
Melaku Worede est un scientifique horticole qui joue un rôle important dans la conservation des semences en Éthiopie. Il a été le premier président du Comité africain pour les ressources végétales et génétiques et a présidé la Commission des ressources phytogénétiques de l'Organisation des Nations unies pour l'alimentation et l'agriculture. Il est actuellement membre du conseil d'administration de l'Institut international des ressources phytogénétiques (IPGRI) et de la Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI). Il a reçu conjointement le Right Livelihood Award en 1989.
Biography
Melaku Worede is a horticultural scientist and influential in seed conservation in Ethiopia. He was the first Chair of the African Committee for Plant and Genetic Resources and has served as Chair of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization's Commission on Plant Genetic Resources. He is currently a Board member of the International Plant Genetic Resources Institute (IPGRI) and the Rural Advancement Foundation International (RAFI). He was co-awarded the 1989 Right Livelihood Award.
