Edward James Royce a été le cinquième président du Liberia (3 janvier 1870 - 26 octobre 1871) et le premier à être renversé. Sa mort est entourée de mystère, beaucoup pensant qu'il a été assassiné et d'autres qu'il s'est noyé après s'être évadé de prison. Il avait tenté de prolonger son mandat, en contradiction directe avec la constitution.
Biography
Edward James Royce was the 5th President of Liberia (3 January 1870 - 26 October 1871) and was also the first one to be overthrown. His death is shrouded in mystery with many believing he was assassinated and others that he drowned following an escape from prison. He had tried to extend his term in direct conflict with the constitution.
