Grace Ogot, née Grace Emily Akinyi Ogot, était une infirmière, une journaliste, une femme politique, une diplomate et une auteure, considérée comme la première femme écrivain kenyane à avoir été publiée en anglais. L'une des premières membres du parlement après l'indépendance, elle a notamment écrit les anthologies de nouvelles The Island of Tears (L'île des larmes) et Land Without Thunders (Terre sans tonnerre).

Biography

Grace Ogot, born Grace Emily Akinyi Ogot, was a nurse, journalist, politician, diplomat and author, credited as being the first Kenyan female writer to be published in English. One of the first members of parliament post-independence, her written work included the short story anthologies The Island of Tears and Land Without Thunders.
