Cyprien Ntaryamira était le 5ème président du Burundi (5 février 1994 - 6 avril 1994), choisi parce que bien qu’il soit d’origine hutu, il était considéré comme modéré. Sa présidence a été de courte durée, car l’avion sur lequel il voyageait avec le président rwandais Juvénal Habyarimana a été abattu. Les agresseurs n’ont jamais été identifiés et l’événement a déclenché le génocide rwandais.
Biography
Cyprien Ntaryamira was the 5th President of Burundi (5 February 1994 - 6 April 1994), selected as although he was of the Hutu ethnicity he was considered a moderate. His presidency was short-lived though as the plane he was travelling on with president Juvénal Habyarimana of Rwanda was shot down. The attackers have never been identified and the event sparked the Rwandan Genocide.
