Kwame Nkrumah a été le premier président du Ghana (1er juillet 1960 - 24 février 1966), après avoir été le premier Premier ministre du Ghana (6 mars 1957 - 1er juillet 1960) et, avant l'indépendance, le premier ministre de la Gold Coast (21 mars 1952 - 6 mars 1957). Défenseur influent du panafricanisme, Nkrumah a été l'un des membres fondateurs de l'Organisation de l'unité africaine et a reçu le prix Lénine pour la paix en 1962. Déposé en 1966, il a passé le reste de sa vie dans la Guinée de Sékou Touré, dont il a été nommé co-président honoraire.
Biography
Kwame Nkrumah was the 1st President of Ghana (1 July 1960 - 24 February 1966) having already held roles as the 1st Prime Minister of Ghana (6 March 1957 - 1 July 1960) and under its pre-independence name, 1st Prime Minister of the Gold Coast (21 March 1952 - 6 March 1957). An influential advocate of Pan-Africanism, Nkrumah was a founding member of the Organisation of African Unity and winner of the Lenin Peace Prize in 1962. He was deposed in 1966 and lived the rest of his life in Sékou Touré's Guinea, of which he was named honorary co-president.
