Biographie
Gaafar Nimeiry a été le quatrième président du Soudan (25 mai 1969 - 6 avril 1985) et le neuvième Premier ministre du Soudan (28 octobre 1969 - 11 août 1976). Il a renversé le gouvernement d'Ismail al-Azhari par un coup d'État militaire. Il se considérait comme un socialiste, mais plus tard, il est devenu un allié des États-Unis capitalistes, tout en appliquant la charia dans l'ensemble du Soudan, ce qui a provoqué la deuxième guerre civile soudanaise.
Biography
Gaafar Nimeiry was the 4th President of Sudan (25 May 1969 - 6 April 1985) and 9th Prime Minister of Sudan (28 October 1969 - 11 August 1976). He overthrew the government of Ismail al-Azhari with a military coup. He considered himself to be a socialist however later on he became an ally of the capitalist United States, but implemented Sharia law throughout Sudan causing the Second Sudanese Civil War.
