Biographie
Sibongile Mkhabela est une assistante sociale de formation et une militante de la justice sociale. Elle a commencé son travail politique au sein d'organisations étudiantes impliquées dans le soulèvement de Soweto contre le régime de l'apartheid. Après les manifestations, elle a été inculpée par la police en vertu de la loi sur le terrorisme pour s'être exprimée contre le gouvernement, détenue pendant un an, puis pendant trois ans. Elle a continué à résister à l'injustice en protestant contre les mauvais traitements infligés aux prisonniers à l'intérieur de la prison de Fort.
Biography
Sibongile Mkhabela is a trained social worker and social justice activist. She started her political work in student organisations involved with the Soweto Uprising against the apartheid regime. After the protests, she was charged by police under the Terrorism Act for speaking out against the government, held for a year and then detained for three years. She continued to resist injustice by protesting against the maltreatment of prisoners from inside Fort Prison.
