Abdul Samad Minty est un diplomate sud-africain. Secrétaire honoraire du mouvement britannique anti-apartheid, il a été photographié en 1964 avec l'acteur Marlon Brando en train de débattre des mesures à prendre pour sanctionner la projection de films hollywoodiens devant des publics ségrégués en Afrique du Sud. L'influence de Minty auprès du Comité international olympique a permis de suspendre la participation de l'Afrique du Sud à l'apartheid aux Jeux olympiques de 1964 à 1988.
Biography
Abdul Samad Minty is a South African diplomat. The Honorary Secretary of the British Anti-Apartheid Movement, he was in 1964 photographed with the actor Marlon Brando debating measures to sanction the screening of Hollywood films before segregated audiences in South Africa. Minty’s influence at the International Olympic Committee secured the suspension of Apartheid South Africa from entering the Olympics from 1964 to 1988.
