Seapei Kgabale était un résistant actif de l’apartheid. Après l’introduction des lois sur les passeports, elle a fait le tour de la communauté en soulignant les disparités de ségrégation causées dans tout Winburg, avant de collecter les passeports et de les mettre au feu devant le poste de police local. Cela a mené à son arrestation, où elle a été accusée de trahison pour avoir résisté au gouvernement. Après sa libération, elle a participé à la marche des femmes sur Pretoria en 1956.
Biography
Seapei Kgabale was an active resister of apartheid. Following the introduction of the pass laws, she canvassed across the community highlighting the disparities segregation caused throughout Winburg, before eventually collecting passes and setting them alight in front of the local police station. This led to her eventual arrest, where she was charged with treason for resisting the government. After her release, she walked in the Women’s March on Pretoria of 1956.
