Assia Djebar est le nom de plume de Fatima-Zohra Imalayen, romancière et cinéaste algérienne. Féministe convaincue, ses livres traitent du rôle des femmes et de leurs origines en Algérie et dans la société algérienne. Bien qu'elle n'ait jamais obtenu cet honneur, elle a souvent été considérée comme une candidate au prix Nobel de littérature.

Biography

Assia Djebar was the pen name of Fatima-Zohra Imalayen, an Algerian novelist and filmmaker. A dedicated feminist, her books focus on the role of women and their origins in Algeria and Algerian society. Although she never won the honour, she was often referred to as a runner for the Nobel Prize for Literature.
