Esmé Berman était un historien de l’art juif sud-africain. Auteure de nombreux livres, elle est surtout connue pour Art and Artists of South Africa qui fut le premier ouvrage de référence sur les artistes sud-africains et fut publié en 1970. Ce livre est devenu un ouvrage fondamental pour l’histoire de l’art sud-africain.
Biography
Esmé Berman was a Jewish South African art historian. The author of numerous books, she is best known for Art and Artists of South Africa which was the first reference work on South African artists and was published in 1970. This became a foundational book for South African art history.
