Tahar al-Haddad était un dirigeant syndical, un nationaliste militant et un écrivain qui s'opposait au colonialisme français. Cofondateur de la Confédération générale des travailleurs tunisiens, il a écrit pour les journaux The Nation, The Language of the People et Justness.
