Biographie
Scholastique Mukasonga est une auteure rwandais vivant en France. Elle est née dans l’ancienne province rwandaise de Gikongoro, mais a quitté le Burundi avant le génocide des Tutsi pour arriver en France en 1992. Gallimard publie son autobiographie, Inyenzi ou les Cafards, qui marque l’entrée de Mukasonga dans la littérature. Son premier roman, Notre-Dame du Nil, a remporté le prix Ahamadou Kourouma et le prix Renaudot.
Biography
Scholastique Mukasonga is a Rwandan author living in France. She was born in the former Gikongoro province of Rwanda but left to Burundi before the genocide of the Tutsi, eventually arriving to France in 1992. Gallimard published her autobiographical work, Inyenzi ou les Cafards, which marked Mukasonga’s entry into literature. Her first novel, Our Lady of the Nile, won the Ahamadou Kourouma Prize and the Renaudot Prize.
