Wanuri Kahiu est un réalisateur dont le premier court métrage a été reconnu au niveau international. From A Whisper (2008) est basé sur des événements réels qui ont entouré les attentats à la bombe de 1998 contre les ambassades des États-Unis au Kenya et en Tanzanie. Pumzi (2009) est un film de science-fiction qui se déroule en Afrique de l'Est trente-cinq ans après la Troisième Guerre mondiale. Il a reçu le prix Citta di Venezia en 2010.

Wanuri Kahiu is a director whose first short film gained international recognition. From A Whisper (2008) is based on real events that surrounded the 1998 United States embassy bombings in Kenya and Tanzania. Pumzi (2009) is a science fiction film based in Eastern Africa thirty-five years after World War III. It received the Citta di Venezia award in 2010.
