Abdoulaye Wade s'est présenté plusieurs fois aux élections avant de devenir le troisième président du Sénégal (1er avril 2000 - 2 avril 2012). Lorsqu'il s'est engagé à briguer un troisième mandat, l'Assemblée nationale a dû approuver la modification de la constitution. En raison de cette modification constitutionnelle, il s'est heurté à une contestation écrasante de la part de la rue et a finalement perdu l'élection face à Macky Sall.
Biography
Abdoulaye Wade ran for office a number of times before he was eventually successful at becoming the 3rd President of Senegal (1 April 2000 - 2 April 2012). When he pledged to run for a third term the National Assembly had to approve the amendment to the constitution. Because of this constitutional amendment he encountered overwhelming street contestation and ultimately lost the election against Macky Sall.
