Ernest Shonekan a occupé les fonctions de président du Nigeria (26 août 1993 - 17 novembre 1993) et de premier ministre du Nigeria (4 janvier 1993 - 26 août 1993), après avoir été nommé à la tête du gouvernement de transition. Les tensions dans le pays étaient fortes à l'époque et il s'est efforcé de contrôler l'armée, ce qui, après seulement trois mois, a conduit à un coup d'État militaire qui l'a renversé.

Biography

Ernest Shonekan has held both the office of President of Nigeria (26 August 1993 - 17 November 1993) and Prime Minister of Nigeria (4 January 1993 - 26 August 1993), having been made head of the transitional government. Tensions in the country were high at the time and he struggled to control the military which, after only three months, led to a military coup that overthrew him.
