Maaouya Ould Sid'Ahmed Taya a été le cinquième président de la Mauritanie (12 décembre 1984 - 3 août 2005) et a également été premier ministre du pays (25 avril 1981 - 8 mars 1984). Il a été renversé en 2005 alors qu'il se trouvait à l'étranger, la dictature militaire qui a pris le pouvoir promettant d'organiser des élections démocratiques deux ans plus tard.
Biography
Maaouya Ould Sid'Ahmed Taya was the 5th President of Mauritania (12 December 1984 - 3 August 2005) and had been the prime minister of the country as well (25 April 1981 - 8 March 1984). He was overthrown whilst overseas in 2005, the military dictatorship that took control promising to hold democratic elections after two years.
