Bettie du Toit, née Elizabeth Sophia Honman, était une syndicaliste sud-africaine et une militante anti-apartheid. Elle a participé à un certain nombre d'événements très médiatisés, notamment la campagne de défiance en 1952, et a été bannie à vie des syndicats. Elle a travaillé en distribuant de la nourriture et en écrivant sur le sujet avant de se rendre à Londres, craignant d'être emprisonnée.
Biography
Bettie du Toit, born Elizabeth Sophia Honman, was a South African trade unionist and anti-Apartheid activist. She was involved in a number of high profile events including the Defiance Campaign in 1952, and was banned for life from trade unions. She worked handing out food and writing about the subject before heading to London fearing jail.
