Biographie
Américo Boavida était un activiste politique dans l'Angola pré-indépendant. Médecin, il s'est spécialisé dans la médecine tropicale et s'est occupé des citoyens les plus pauvres. Il a rejoint le Mouvement populaire pour la libération de l'Angola (MPLA), a passé du temps au Maroc et au Congo avant de retourner en Angola et d'enseigner la médecine de base aux membres de l'armée de guérilla des Forces armées populaires pour la libération de l'Angola (FAPLA). Il a été tué au combat par un hélicoptère portugais.
Biography
Américo Boavida was a political activist in pre-independent Angola. He was a doctor who specialised in tropical medicine and looking after the poorest of citizens. He joined the Popular Movement for the Liberation of Angola (MPLA), he spent time in Morocco and Congo before returning to Angola and teaching basic medicine to members of the guerrilla army for People's Armed Forces for the Liberation of Angola (FAPLA). He was killed in action by a Portuguese helicopter attack.
